Hyper reality was the stuff of science fiction not so long ago. Now, many of us live there a good portion of the time through the screens of our computers, mobile devices, and TVs. The shift has had profound effects on our communications, on our relationships (with others, and with our environments), and on our cultural identity. That makes it a compelling photographic subject. But hyper reality is as invisible as the mind, and just as hard to photograph. So photographers look for inventive ways to capture telling glimpses, or otherwise depict our journeys into this parallel universe.
