Most of us know what cameras, lenses, and strobes work best for us. The next thing to do is to figure out what non-photo items would make our lives easier. I’m talking about non-traditional "stuff" that we all keep in our camera bags. That item that every once in a while saves us or helps us out when doing a job or simply out shooting. I asked a bunch of photo-friends for ideas. Here is my top 15 list of "stuff" that every photographer should have with them at all times!
  1. Sharpies
  2. Advil (or something similar)
  3. Ziploc Bags
  4. Carabiners (I bet you know what this is, even if you don’t know the name)
  5. Swiss Army Knife
  6. Leatherman Multi-Tool
  7. A Freezer (at home to store film)
  8. Baseball Cap or Bandana
  9. Canned Air
  10. Compass
  11. Snacks and Tic Tacs ( I know that's 2 things)
  12. Water
  13. Bandaids
  14. Gaffers Tape
  15. Note Pad and pen

If you have all these items in your bag at all times, your bag is gonna be heavy! So figure out which ones might work for you and throw them in. You never know when you might need them.

Special thanks to the following photographers for their help making this list: Nima Saint Lux, Reuben Radding, Gothan Cukurova, Nacio Jan Brown, Jeff James, Michael Grace-Martin, Sandor Demlinger, Bill Kobasz and Robert Schneider.
