This Thursday, April 25th, PDN will be hosting a free, public seminar featuring many of the top 30 rising photographers of 2013, as chosen by the editors. The event, which is hosted at Santa Monica College from 715-945pm, is called “Transitions: Strategies for Young Working Photographers.” The event is co-sponsored by Sony, Adobe Systems, Kodak, Shutterstock, Canson Infinity, American Society of Media Photographers, the School of Visual Arts, PDN and the Nielsen Photo Group.
The seminar will be a panel of photographers, including Sony Artisan of Imagery Brian Smith and Jessica Sample, Michael Friberg and Ian Allen, who were all featured in the 2013 PDN 30 issue. Panelists will share how they got to where they are today, including how they got their first jobs and structured their first promotional efforts. Panelists will discuss their experiences in school, what they wish they had been taught and exclusive career advice. The seminar is sure to be extremely interesting and informative for any photographer beginning his or her career. PDN’s Editor Holly Hughes will moderate the discussion.
